Ukraine Proposes Closer Cooperation Between Defense Industries of EU Countries and Candidate Countries

Ukraine wants the defense industries of the European Union and countries that want to become EU members to strengthen their cooperation.

Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba said this when he arrived at a conference in Berlin on the expansion of the European Union, reports a correspondent of European Pravda.

The Foreign Minister noted that he would raise this issue when communicating with his colleagues in the German capital.

“Among all the policies that the EU implements, we need a new strong consolidated policy on cooperation between the defense industries of the EU countries and candidate countries. Because we see that in order to defend ourselves, resolve conflicts and deter aggression in Europe, efforts in the field defense industries must be activated,” Kuleba said.

Ukraine is working with the EU to increase cooperation between defense industries so that they complement each other, he added.

“This specific policy of cooperation between defense industries should become one of the pillars of the EU’s common security and defense policy,” Kuleba emphasized.

He also called on the EU to find a balance between the process of reforming the European Union and continuing enlargement, so that EU reform does not slow down the accession of new members .

On November 2, the leaders and representatives of the Foreign Ministries of all EU member states, as well as all candidate states, gathered in Berlin. This is the first such large meeting dedicated to the reform of the European Union.
