Madison County Sheriff’s Investigators Are Looking Into the Unusual Deaths of a Couple Found Dead in Their Home on March 22

Madison County sheriff’s Capt. Jimmy Patton this week said that it appears the man was deceased for a couple of weeks or more prior to his wife dying. However, there does not currently appear to be any foul play due to both having serious health issues, he said.

“From what we found at the scene, the husband was dead for quite some time before the wife died,” Patton said. The wife “didn’t report it or tell anybody.”

She simply covered her husband with blankets, according to Patton.

A deputy was dispatched to the couple’s home off Helican Springs Road northwest of Hull for a welfare check as one family member reported she had not heard from the couple since Feb. 15.

The doors were locked and the officer forced his way into the home. He located the husband in a chair in front of a computer, but his body was totally hidden in blankets, according to the report. More deputies were called to the house, and the wife’s body was found in a bedroom.

The couple was in their 50s and resided in a wooded area with no close neighbors.

Patton said the bodies were removed for autopsies to determine the cause of deaths.
