As part of a larger slate of items from the county transportation committee, the Madison County Board this week approved a five-year highway improvement plan, beginning Jan. 1, 2020.
Projects for 2020:
• Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) and the county to resurface Wanda Road from Route 143 to New Poag Road
• Reconstruct Seiler Road, County Highway 52, for 2.1 miles from Humbert Road to Seminary Road in Godfrey Township
• Reconstruct and realign Staunton Road from Interstate 70 to Goshen Road in Pin Oak Township
• Chamberlain Bridge on Pin Oak Road, Sections 14 and 15, Pin Oak Township
• IDOT and the county to replace bridge on New Poag Road in Section 10 of Edwardsville Township
• IDOT and the county to replace Engelke Bridge on Silver Creek Road over a tributary to Silver Creek in Olive Township
• Drainage structures at various county locations
• Various county railroad crossing improvements
• Resurfacing various county highways.

• IDOT and Godfrey to construct Cross Town Road from Route 3 to Route 267
• IDOT and Alton to reconstruct East Broadway
• IDOT and Collinsville to resurface Main Street
• IDOT and Hamel to build a bike trail connector
• IDOT and Bethalto to reconstruct North Prairie Street
• IDOT and Collinsville to resurface Clay Street
• IDOT and Edwardsville to resurface North Buchanan Street
• IDOT and Godfrey to resurface Pearl Street
• IDOT and Maryville to resurface Keebler Road
• IDOT and Maryville to build a roundabout at Keebler Road and Route 162
• IDOT and Troy to reconstruct West Clay Street

• Reconstruct Harris Lane from 1,000 feet west of Lobo Road west to Seminary Road in Foster Township
• Reconstruct and realign Staunton Road from Intestate 70 to 0.5 miles north of Maple Grove Road in Pin Oak Township
• Reconstruct and realign Staunton Road from 0.5 miles north of Maple Grove Road to Route 143 in Pin Oak Township
• Reconstruct Staunton Road from Michael Drive to Oakland Drive in Pin Oak Township
• Reconstruct Airport Road from Godfrey Road to Davis Lane in Godfrey Township
• Langenwalter Bridge on East Mill Creek Road, Section 26, Jarvis Township
• Drainage structures at various county locations
• Various county railroad crossings to be signalized
• Resurfacing various county highways.
