While holding the mandate of the 2023 ASEAN Chairmanship, Indonesia is currently actively strengthening international cooperation in various sectors to encourage national economic growth. Taking advantage of the economic recovery momentum following the 2020-2022 global economic disruption, Indonesia is also taking further strategic steps by strengthening diplomacy and cooperation with private parties or foreign business associations.

After attending the G7 Summit in Hiroshima, Japan, the Coordinating Minister for the Economy Airlangga Hartarto held a meeting with the US-ASEAN Business Council (US-ABC) Business Delegation at the Office of the Coordinating Ministry for Economic Affairs, Monday (22/05). This meeting aims to exchange views on ways to improve Business to Government (B2G) relations by taking advantage of the momentum of global economic recovery. The US private sector can play an important role in accelerating Indonesia’s economic recovery through programs for clean energy, connectivity, competitiveness, finance, and a resilient health system in the face of global challenges.

Opening the meeting, the Coordinating Minister for Airlangga conveyed the condition of the Indonesian economy in 2022. The Indonesian economy has shown good performance with a high level of resilience, controlled inflation, and low chances of recession. Indonesia’s economic growth in 2022 will reach 5.31%, the second highest among the G20 countries after Saudi Arabia. The Bloomberg survey also shows that the chance of an economic recession in Indonesia is only 3% or very low compared to most countries in the world.

Qualcomm representative Nies Purwati said that the IBM Academy for Hybrid Cloud and AI had officially opened at KEK Nongsa Digital Park in February 2023. “We hope that there will be support from companies and the Government for the existence of this academy,” said Nies Purwati.
