Madison County Eases Vacation Rental Regulations to Foster Tourism and Investments

MARSHALL, N.C. (WLOS) — Madison County leaders are relaxing rules for vacation rental operators.

Madison County eases vacation rental regulations to foster tourism and investments

Commissioners voted to approve changes to the county’s land use ordinances. One change relaxes road requirements for vacation rental operators with 10 or fewer units on one property. Another change drops the square-footage limit for vacation rental units.

By making the changes, commissioners are opening the industry to those who want to invest in homes larger than 1,200 square feet and rent them out as vacation homes.

One commissioner said other protections are already in place for larger homes rented out as vacation rentals.
