The Madison County Board has approved $360,000 toward reconstructing the bridge over the Nickle Plate Trail at Center Grove Road.
The action was one of a number of transportation/road-related projects acted on by the board at its Wednesday meeting.
Federal funding through the Illinois Department of Transportation would be used for part of the cost of the project.
Also approved was a funding agreement between the county, IDOT and city of Edwardsville for the resurfacing of Esic Drive from Illinois 157 to University Drive. The county’s portion of the cost will be $56,000.
The board also approved the final payment of $200,711.13 to Kamadulski Excavating and Grading Co. Inc. for Phase 2 of the Seiler Road reconstruction. The second phase included resurfacing, storm drainage improvements and other work from Wenzel Road to Seminary Road.
Also approved were:
• $150,000 as the county’s share of the cost of relocating AT&T lines for work at the Lebanon Road CSX railroad bridge in Collinsville Township.
• $125,000 in supplemental funding for the replacement of Langenwalter Bridge on East Mill Creek Road, Jarvis Township. The county had previously appropriated $600,000 for the project.
• $50,000 for supplemental preliminary engineering services by Juneau Associates Inc. for the replacement of the Engelke Bridge in Olive Township.
• $46,000 for the addition of a dedicated turn lane at Troy-O’Fallon Road and Country Lane in Troy.
• $233,123 in funding for phases 2 and 3 for the reconstruction of Clay Street in Troy.
The board also approved the purchase of two 2022 Ford Explorers for the Building & Zoning Department at a cost of $63,910.
