A statement given by the Madison County Republican Central Committee is calling for candidates to fill the Madison County Sheriff vacancy following Sheriff Rick Henry’s announcement to begin working as Brigham Young University-Idaho’s new public safety director.
The press release reads:
“The Madison County Republican Central Committee (MCRCC) will meet Oct. 19 at 7 p.m. in the Commissioners Room at the Madison County Courthouse in Rexburg to select three (3) candidate names to submit to the Madison County Commissioners for the purpose of filling the intending vacancy of Madison County Sheriff on November 1, 2023.”
To be considered as a candidate for appointment, you must submit a resume to the MCRCC chairman, Randy Sutton, at rds@ssscpa.net. You may also submit your resume by delivering it to the Madison County Clerk’s office in a sealed envelope.
The deadline for submitting resumes is Oct. 18 at 5 p.m.. In order to be considered you must be Republican, qualified to become sheriff, and you must be in attendance at the meeting taking place on Oct. 19 where you will have two to five minutes to address the committee, according to the press release.
The individual appointed to take Sheriff Henry’s place will serve for the remainder of the elected term through 2024.
